Euroclean Refinery and Petrochemical Nigeria Limited recognizes that a convergence of forces has created an unprecedented opportunity. Crude oil production in the Niger Delta is well over two and half million barrels per day. Yet, 95% or more of that is being shipped out of the country to distant refineries. Meanwhile, Nigeria has a severe shortage of Refined Petroleum products that will only worsen as oil production continues to grow.
Proximity to Oil Production
Currently, more than 2.5 million barrels of oil are being produced in the Niger Delta every day. Over 95% of it is being shipped at great expense to refineries hundreds of miles away. Locating the refinery in the heart of the Niger Delta will ensure a steady supply of below market crude oil feedstock from production companies seeking transportation savings and a local, regional and international market for refined fuels.
Euroclean Refinery and Petrochemical Nigeria Limited Natural Gas
As a by-product of the tremendous growth of the Niger Delta oil play has been the co-production of a significant amount of natural gas. About 80% of this gas is currently being flared, vented or is "no bid" and is available to Euroclean at a cost well below hub prices. Also, the use of gas to operate the plant will allow 100% of the crude intake to be processed without a parasitic effect. The plant will have emissions so low it won't require an EPA permit.
